About Us
The BMR Metropolitan District (Water District) is a Colorado
Special District. The Water District operates and maintains
the water system that produces potable water for the comm-
unity. The system includes ground water supply, treatment,
distribution and storage facilities. The system was engineered,
built, operated and managed by the original Bell Mountain
Ranch developer. Revenue for the enterprise fund is gener-
ated from monthly water service and usage fees, not from tax dollars. The governing body of the Water District is its volunteer Board of Directors (Bell Mountain owners) who are elected by the tax payers of Bell Mountain.
Wells: The District owns and operates two deep ground water wells, one in the Denver aquifer and one in the Arapahoe aquifer.
Treatment Plant: The water treatment plant is designed to remove impurities from the source ground water and has the capacity to treat 504 gallons per minute continuously. It utilizes ion exchange technology which also softens the water. The output of the treatment process flows to a 30,000 gallon clear well tank co-located with the treatment facility.
Distribution System: There are approximately 12 miles of 8-inch and 3 miles of 12-inch diameter water mains in the system. The distribution system is gravity fed and is divided into 3 pressure zones through the use of 7 pressure reducing valves that are installed in buried vaults throughout the system. The system feeds all fire hydrants on the ranch and can support fire code requirements of 1,500 gallons per minute for 2 hours.
Storage: There are two steel potable water storage tanks (210,000 and 90,000) providing a total storage capacity of 300,000 gallons.
Backup Power Generators: Power at the treatment plant and well sites are backed up by diesel generators.
